Head uptown for a special herb-centric evening at the Horticultural Society of NY at beautiful Riverbank State Park. Tour the gardens and greenhouse, learn about herbs, plant your own, and then sup on a sumptuous herb-centric meal.
Tuesday, May 14 at the Greenhouse of the Horticultural Society at Riverbank State Park (only a 10-minute walk from 145th Street station on the number 1 train; UPDATED directions below)
$35 per person
We’ll first tour the Horticultural Society’s Greenhouse and outdoor gardens while sampling hors d’oeuvres brightened with fresh herbs from the gardens. We will then dig in (literally!) and plant our own herbs (to take home). Finally, we’ll sit down to a locally sourced plant-based supper featuring a variety of seasonal asparagus and fresh herbs and special mocktails featuring spirits from Seedlip.
Annette Nielsen, who runs the culinary programs at the Horticultural Society, will lead this special program, with Kristin Lucey, the Greenhouse manager, guiding us in the herb plantings for the windowsill.
Tentative menu (subject to changes based on availability):
Limited to 16 attendees, members ONLY.
Two volunteers needed : one for write-up and one for photography and social media.
For more information contact Deri Reed.
