Description: There’s an ongoing myth that rap music made Cognac popular in the black community when in fact the African-American community has had a lover affair with the spirit for decades. In this happy hour presentation, Yolanda Shoshana, will discuss how Cognac has become a beloved spirit in the community, food pairings, and how to make an Old-Fashioned with Cognac. Drink with Yolanda: Come with a glass of your favorite Cognac ( or whatever brandy makes you happy). If you want to make the cocktail you will need : 50 ml VSOP Cognac, 15 ml sugar, 3 dashes Angostura Bitters and Zest of 1 orange to garnish. About Your Host: Yolanda Shoshana, known as the “Brandy Bruja”, fell in love with Cognac (the king of brandy) when she was invited on a press trip to the quaint city in France. Brandy is her favorite spirit due to it’s versatility to be sipped neat, paired with food, or in a cocktail. Her goal is to bring back the elegance and magick of brandy.
