Join NYWCA member, Betty Ann Quirino, as she demos Filipino dishes from her cookbook. She recently launched her cookbook: Instant Filipino Recipes: My Mother’s Traditional Philippine Food in a Multicooker Pot.
This is a follow up to My Mother’s Philippine Recipes, a collection of her late mother’s favorite Filipino traditional dishes which Betty Ann transformed to everyday cooking in her American kitchen. She will share her background and her connections to these dishes.
Betty Ann, as she is fondly called, was born and raised in Tarlac, Philippines and now based in New Jersey, USA. She is a journalist, author, and a correspondent for Positively Filipino online magazine. She blogs about Filipino home cooking recipes on her popular site Asian in America. She travels often to her home in the Philippines, and throughout Asia, in search of traditional recipes and stories about culture and personalities. She is currently deep in the trenches writing her next books on Filipino food and family relationships.
The recipes she’ll be cooking up will be Chicken and Pork in White Adobo and Guinataang Bilo-Bilo : Sweet Yams and Rice Balls in Coconut. Recipe cards will be sent out if you want to cook along side her, or you are just welcome to watch her cook her wonderful dishes.
There will also be a raffle of Betty Ann’s 2 cookbooks at the end of the event!
Sara Moulton will be moderating this event via Zoom video conference event and the link will be sent out on the day of event.
