Macarons first mentioned in Scherezade and the 1001Arabian nights, baked by monks in Sicily and Naples, transported from Firenze to Paris when Catherine de Medici married Henry II, secret to survival during the French revolution for the sisters from Nancy to Gerbert and La Duree in Paris…and now the world!

These ubiquitous sweets are carried by a wide variety of retailers including McDonald's in France, where on National Macaron Day a macaron in the shape and with the coloring of a “Big Mac” is on sale
